Surfaces That Can Actually Be Cleaned
In a controlled area, the handling equipment is part of the contamination picture. Timber is porous, sheds fibres and splinters, and cannot be cleaned to a standard that survives scrutiny. Plastic is non-porous and smooth, has no grain or crevice for residue to sit in, and can be washed down between batches without absorbing what it was holding.
The distinction worth making is between a ribbed bin and a smooth-walled one. Most bulk bins use internal ribs because ribs add stiffness cheaply, and every rib is a ledge where material lodges and a wash can fail to reach. The 650L smooth wall bin removes them: the internal surface is continuous, so product empties more completely and a wash reaches the whole interior.
Colour-Coding and Segregation
The smooth wall bin is available in a range of colours, which supports the colour-coded control systems common in regulated production, with one colour per material, per clean state, or per production area. Setting that up at the point of purchase costs nothing; retrofitting it across an existing fleet is expensive and rarely done properly.
Specifying for a Regulated Site
For racked finished goods, specify against the racking figure rather than the dynamic figure, since racking is the limiting condition with nothing supporting the deck underneath. Eight pallets in the range carry a published beam racking rating; the rest are published as racking N/A and are rated for freight and floor use only. Where equipment moves between controlled and general areas, four-way forklift and pallet jack entry removes the repositioning that otherwise happens at every threshold.
On certification we would rather be precise than reassuring. No line in the current range is published with GMP or documented food-contact certification. What is published is the material behaviour that matters in a controlled area: non-porous, washable, splinter-free and dimensionally consistent. Where your quality system requires documented certification for a specific line, tell us which one and we will confirm the status in writing before you order.
